How can I help with Job Hunting Research and Recommendations?
Are you early-mid in your career and either want or need to find a job? Are you confused about where to start in your job search? Do you want someone to give you pointers and directions to aid your search.
Step 1: The Initial Discovery Call
Starting off with a one-to-one chat either via Zoom or a phone call, we hold a discovery chat to enable me to fully understand the types of roles you are interested in and where you want to get to. This is followed up by a job hunting questionnaire after the session via email to support the process.
Step 2: The Job Search Support
Effectively, I take the strain and provide you with recommendations of possible opportunities within your chosen locations / industry and fields.
a) Provide advice on how and where to search for potential roles.
b) How to make best use of LinkedIn.
c) Tips on how to leverage your network and approach businesses directly.
d) Useful network groups to join on LinkedIn etc. to raise your profile.
e) Depending on the industry, I can give you named connections at agencies or employers to speak to.
f) Targeted research on potential employers in your chosen industry/location.
Whilst I can't guarantee you an interview or indeed a job I give you the tips on how to make the most out of your networks.
If you choose Options 2,3 or 4 whilst I formally send you an email once a week I am always looking for alternative roles for you. We can also have a weekly phone call during which I am happy to answer reasonable questions during this time too. Think of me as your job support buddy!
Prices start from £60.00
Option 1: One off search
Option 2: Support for 1 month (weekly email to be sent with potential roles)
Option 3: Support for 3 months (weekly email to be sent with potential roles)
Option 4: Support for 6 months (weekly email to be sent with potential roles)
How can I go about finding a job?
As part of any job search don’t just rely on looking at your current job title as this often doesn’t necessarily mean that the role you have found is the right one for you. Take into consideration other names that your job might be called in the marketplace.
Look at the job description details and pick out the following elements:-
• Specific skills
• Qualifications and training
• Personal qualities and characteristics
• Knowledge areas
• Areas of expertise
• Responsibilities
• Abilities
Prepare examples of how, when and where you demonstrated the required skills, qualities and abilities the job requires. Use the STAR (situation, task, action and result) method to formulate ideas.
Compare yourself against the required criteria using
• Your current role
• Past roles
• Unpaid positions (work experience, volunteering, sports teams)
• Hobbies and interests
• Personal life
If you don’t fully meet the criteria
• Could you offer something similar e.g. different qualifications or training, experience instead of academic qualifications?
• Could you look at additional training to provide you with the missing skills?
